Traditional Lion Dance "Cai Qing" Ceremony to Commence Spectacular Annual Festival Specialty Menu to be Featured at LUK FU Asian Restaurant

HANOVER, MD (Jan. 24, 2017) - Live! Casino & Hotel will celebrate the LUNAR NEW YEAR and "Year of the Rooster" with its annual lineup of traditional events celebrating and honoring Asian culture. The Lunar New Year officially begins on January 28, the first day of the New Year based on the lunar calendar.

The festivities will begin on Friday, January 27 at 11:30am with a "Cai Qing" Ceremony, a customary and visually stunning ritual, featuring the "picking of the greens" by the "Lion" to bless the New Year and bring prosperity.

Following the ceremony, Lion Dancers will lead a rousing parade across the casino floor, finishing at Rams Head Center Stage, where a spectacular Lunar New Year Festival will be presented from Noon - 4:45pm. Admission is free, but attendees must be Live! Rewards Card members.

The festival will treat guests to fun and tradition, including:

Couplets written by a Master Calligrapher;
Martial Arts Demonstration;
Traditional Erhu Instrument – a Chinese violin;
Opportunities for picture-taking with the Money God for good luck and prosperity;
Traditional performances of Musical Instruments and Dance;
Traditional Name Painting;
Traditional Hand-Made Flour and Straw Figurines.
Many food ingredients in Asian cuisine symbolize good luck and success in the coming year. To complement this very important component of traditional New Year celebrations, Chef Joseph Ku will offer a specialty menu at LUK FU, Live! Casino's popular Asian restaurant, including fish maw soup, sautéed fresh pork tongue with celery, fat choy pigs feet, black mushroom with lettuce, and Hong Kong style soy sauce chicken. The special menu will be available for a limited time.

Live! Rewards members will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including Chinese couplets, hand-made figurines, and name paintings; and participate in traditional arts and crafts.
