Cordish Named 2012 ULI Baltimore WaveMaker Lifetime Award Winner

David Cordish, President and Chairman of The Cordish Company, has been selected as the 2012 ULI Baltimore WaveMaker Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

On October 25, 2012, ULI Baltimore will be hosting its fourth annual WaveMaker Awards program, where they will present David Cordish with this honorable award.

For decades, ULI has recognized outstanding real estate development projects, related programs, and visionaries in urban development through its globalAwards of Excellence program.  ULI Baltimore’s District Council created an inaugural WaveMaker Awards Event that recognizes local real estate development projects, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a recognized leader in the development community that has served over two decades; has touched all aspects of development (acquisition, design, financing, implementation); has touched a variety of different land uses (retail, office residential, hospitality, etc); can be a developer, builder, contractor, consultant, financier; someone that the vast majority of people would say “that makes sense – they are the right person”; and has volunteered their time and/or resources to help advance the industry.

The Cordish Company is one of Baltimore’s leading real estate development companies and most successful operators of entertainment districts and casinos in the world. David Cordish has been called "the king of urban makeovers," a man who drives a hard bargain but delivers fresh, vibrant developments, succeeding where others have failed. The family-owned company has nearly 100 years of experience in property development, starting in its hometown, Baltimore.

In 2011, M.J. “Jay” Brodie, President of the Baltimore Development Corporation, received the ULI Baltimore’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The WaveMaker Awards “Call For Entries” was distributed earlier this year and there were eighteen award submissions.  The Jury for the Awards Committee selected six projects that will be honored on October 25th at Pazo’s located at 1425 Aliceanna Street in Baltimore.
