Fourth Street Live! Welcomes Smoothie King
Smoothie King, Fourth Street Live! and The Cordish Companies today announced that Smoothie King will open at Fourth Street Live! Smoothie King, the 1973 originator of the nutritional fruit smoothie, offers guests fresh blended smoothies and healthy retail products, including sports beverages, energy bars, healthy snacks, vitamin supplements, herbs, minerals and other sports nutrition products. The announcement follows on the heels of news that confectionery The Fudgery will open at the downtown dining and entertainment district, along with other exciting new tenants including Mozzaria, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, PBR Louisville, and Mosaic Nightclub & Lounge. The smoothie shop will be located on the first floor of the district, neighboring T-Mobile and the United States Postal Service. This is the seventh Smoothie King location in the Louisville market, the first opening its doors in 1999. Smoothie King at Fourth Street Live! will employ approximately 15 new employees and is scheduled to open later this summer.
Founder Steve Kuhnau first began experimenting with smoothie making as a way to remedy his allergies and other health-related ailments. In 1973, Kuhnau opened the first Smoothie King, selling vitamins along with his healthy specialty drinks. Since then, Smoothie King has grown to over 600 locations operating in the continental US and Seoul, Korea, and continues to be driven by a genuine commitment to help people lead healthier lives through nutrition. Smoothie King has been named #1 franchise in the “Juice Bar” category 18 times by Entrepreneur Magazine and has expanded its offering to a wide selection of healthy snacks and high quality nutritional products.
