Hanover, MD (April 24, 2013) – Maryland Live! Casino is the recipient of the 2013 Career and Technology Education (CTE) Outstanding Postsecondary Business Partnership Award of Excellence from the Maryland State Department of Education. The Casino was recognized by the Division of Career and College Readiness (DDCR) for its ongoing business partnership with Anne Arundel Community College.

“We are honored to be the recipient of such a prestigious award from the Maryland State Department of Education,” said Robert J. Norton, President and General Manager, Maryland Live! Casino. “Our partnership with Anne Arundel Community College has allowed us to make a real difference in the community by providing training and long-term career opportunities in the gaming industry to area residents. We look forward to a continued relationship with Dr. Lindsay, the AACC Board, faculty and students as our gaming and entertainment offerings continue to expand.”

Maryland Live! Casino has played an integral part in developing classes, providing instructors and collaborating on several projects in association with Anne Arundel Community College. One particular area of focus has been the College’s Hotel Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute, where students reap the benefits of the partnership through curriculum enhancements, work-based learning opportunities and scholarships.

Another recent initiative was the implementation of a successful Dealer School, which offered a free, 12-week dealer training course to individuals interested in pursuing a career in the gaming industry. More than 500 students graduated from the course and are now employed as full-time table games dealers at Maryland Live! Casino.
