In Anticipation of its May 21 Opening Gordon Biersch Launches Hiring Center, Kicks Off Brewing Flagship Beers
LOUISVILLE, KY – In preparation for its May 21 grand opening at
Fourth Street Live!, award-winning brewery restaurant Gordon Biersch today announced significant milestones leading up to its debut: launching an on-site employment center in anticipation of hiring approximately 115 new team members, as well as commencing brewing their signature flagship beers at the in-house brewery. Boasting hand-crafted beers, made-from-scratch food and a lively atmosphere, Gordon Biersch spans approximately 9,000 square feet at the corner of Fourth and Liberty Streets at Fourth Street Live!. When Gordon Biersch debuts in May, the venue will join a string of new openings in the district, including Mosaic Nightclub & Lounge (opening this Friday, April 13), PBR Louisville (Thursday, April 26), and Tavern on Fourth (late 2012). The restaurant is approximately $4 million of 100% private investment between Fourth Street Live! and Gordon Biersch.
“Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant is filling a key location in Fourth Street Live! and we are very excited to be welcoming a new venue to our regional entertainment destination,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “Fourth Street Live! has become a central gathering point for concerts, pep rallies and other community activities, and I have no doubt Gordon Biersch will be a part of the vibrant activity in Louisville’s downtown.”
Gordon Biersch at Fourth Street Live! will employ approximately 115 new team members across all positions including servers, hosts and kitchen staff. The Gordon Biersch employment center is located at 400 S. Fourth Street on the second floor of the district directly above the new restaurant space. Job seekers are encouraged to fill out applications online at www.work4GB.com prior to their visit and bring a valid driver’s license and social security card as they may be interviewed by several hiring managers on the spot. The center provides eight laptops available for those applicants who do not have access to a computer. The employment center is open Monday – Friday from 9AM-
4:30PM through April 27.
In addition to the new employment center, Gordon Biersch also reported the commencement of brewing at their on-site brewery, starting with the concept’s five signature beers. Tom Dargen, Gordon Biersch Director of Brewing Operations, and Gary Fritze, Head Brewer - Gordon Biersch Glendale, AZ, arrived in Louisville this week to assist David Stacy, Gordon Biersch Louisville's Head Brewer. The renowned Gordon Biersch team is brewing double batches of the five flagship beers, with four of the German lagers typically requiring 4-6 weeks to reach hand-crafted perfection. Gordon
Biersch brews according to the 500 year old Purity Law, using only four ingredients in every beer they brew: water, barley (or wheat), hops and yeast. Gordon Biersch Louisville will always offer five flagship beers on tap – Golden Export, Marzen, Czech Pilsner, Hefeweizen and Schwarzbier, as well as four rotating seasonal brews throughout the year. Several “Brewer's Choice” selections will also be available on rotation.
Gordon Biersch Louisville celebrates its grand opening on Monday, May 21 and will be open Sunday – Monday from 11AM-10PM (bar 11AM-12AM), Tuesday – Thursday from 11AM – 11PM (bar 11AM – 12AM), and Friday – Saturday 11AM – 12AM (bar 11AM – 2AM).
