PBR, a 1,500-person country-themed bar, to open in Arlington

At a group of country-western bars in cities like Kansas City and Las Vegas, line dances break out after a round of tequila shots. Guys and gals learn to two-step regardless of how much country swagger they have. At midnight, each bar plays a remake of Merle Haggard's "I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink."

This is PBR. And it's coming to Arlington's flashiest new development.

The coming-soon bar was announced Feb. 17, the day before the Professional Bull Riders Inc. kick off their bull-riding event Iron Cowboy at Arlington's AT&T Stadium.

The country-western-themed bar will be located at the Texas Live! development and is expected to open in 2018.

PBR country bar joins a list of notable announcements at Texas Live!: barbecue joint Lockhart Smokehouse, a Guy Fieri restaurant and craft beer spot Revolver Brewery.

PBR will offer "an authentic country experience to Arlington, marrying an electric combination of 'cowboy cool' and big-time, Texas-sized entertainment," a statement explains.

It'll be big, capable of holding 1,500 people and boasting a 7,000-square-foot balcony that looks at a 5,000-person event space called Arlington Backyard. (What's happening there? It's a little too early to report details, though the plan is for it to host big-name concerts.)

This PBR will be the largest in the country and will showcase the sport of professional bullriding. It will not be a restaurant, though private events will have catering options available.

Texas Live! is a $250 million entertainment development coordinated through a partnership between the Cordish Companies, Texas Rangers and the city of Arlington. It's a piece of a large-scale Arlington makeover that includes a new Rangers ballpark, new restaurants, a hotel and more.
