Live! Casino to Offer Outdoor Gaming this Spring with New Patio
Live! Casino will open a patio for outdoor gambling this spring, casino officials announced Tuesday.
The new outdoor gaming area, to be called the Orchid Gaming & Smoking Patio, will offer table games and slots, as well as a bar serving spirits and cigars. It's slated to open in mid-April.
The announcement is the newest development for the Arundel Mills casino, which is preparing to open an adjacent 310-room luxury hotel and conference center designed to attract more high-rollers as Live continues to compete with MGM National Harbor and Horseshoe Casino for business. Live! Casino earned the second highest revenue among Maryland's six casinos in January, pulling in $43.5 million, a 1 percent year-over-year decrease compared with January 2017. MGM, the top earning casino, saw $50.2 million in revenue last month.
“Orchid is the latest in the evolution of Live! Casino & Hotel, as we continually strive to create an environment that is engaging and welcoming for our guests,” Live! Casino & Hotel President Rob Norton said in a statement. “With Orchid, we are offering them visually stunning space to enjoy an extensive collection of cigars and spirits, while seamlessly moving between their favorite table games and slots.”
The patio, the first of its kind among the state's six casinos, will feature more than 150 slot machines, 28 electronic tables and 12 live-action table games including Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette. Ticket In/Ticket Out tables, another first, will allow visitors to shift between slots and table games without having to carry their chips to a main cage. The patio's design will reference the four elements: earth, air, fire and water.
