Granbury-based Revolver Brewing opens new ‘experimental’ brewery at Texas Live! in Arlington

The Blood and Honey creators are bringing their brews to sports fans in Arlington’s entertainment district.

There’s something new brewing at Texas Live! in Arlington and it comes with a history of strong roots in North Texas.

Revolver Brewing BLDG 5 made its debut at the new entertainment complex in February. The brewery’s original location opened about eight years ago in Granbury, and was founded by father and son duo Ron and Rhett Keisler, along with Grant Wood, a master brewer and cicerone.

They quickly gained recognition and grew in popularity with North Texans because of its flagship Blood and Honey wheat ale, which some say sparked interest among drinkers in the craft beer scene here.

Revolver Brewing BLDG 5 is a new, experimental innovation brewery where guests can see the brewing process in action, Wood said during a recent tour.

The new locale sits in Arlington’s entertainment district, just between Globe Life Park, AT&T Stadium and the soon-to-be-open Globe Life Field. But just because it’s at a new location, doesn’t mean the owners wanted to forget their Granbury roots.

Much of the location’s interior design features things from the original location, like the tables, metal details and rustic furnishings.

“We wanted to bring the Granbury roots and feels to Arlington,” Wood said.

Their most popular and iconic brew, Blood and Honey, will be just one of the beers you’ll be able to get at the new location. Brews will be coming out throughout the year on a schedule, but Wood said if the public ends up really liking a certain beer, they’ll consider keeping it longer term.

Along with your beer, you’ll be able to order some food from their specialty menu featuring eats from Lockhart Smokehouse.

The brewery has 20-barrel tanks that work on a three-week cycle. Wood predicts that the new location will produce up to 2,000 barrels of beer this year.

While Wood wasn’t too specific about what was coming next, he said some new projects may come out later this year at the BLDG 5 location in Arlington. He also said he plans to take BLDG 5 brews into more D-FW places.

There’s also a pet-friendly outdoor seating location that flows into the Miller Beer Garden courtyard at Texas Live! and it overlooks the Live! By Loews hotel, which is also newly opened.

Back in 2015, Revolver Brewing was purchased by MillerCoors’ craft division Tenth and Blake Beer Company, The Dallas Morning News reported. Months after the acquisition came plans to build a location at Texas Live, The News reported in 2016.

The new BLDG 5 location gives Wood the chance to experiment more with different ingredients and plans of creating some new recipes he hopes people in Arlington will take to, he said.
