Chamber will be visiting Kansas City
The trip is to draw lessons from the city for use in Jacksonville
The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s leadership trip will visit Kansas City, MO, in October to see how that city developed medical research and sparked creation of an entertainment district in downtown, The Kansas City Power & Light District.
The trip will be the 29th annual trip sponsored by the chamber to visit other cities and draw lessons for use in Jacksonville.
Kansas City is similar to Jacksonville because both cities have used a partnership between the government and the private sector to create economic growth.
The trip will cover visits to the Stower’s Institute for Medical Research and the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute. It will also tour Kansas City’s Power & Light District, a 9 city block entertainment district in downtown Kansas City that was developed by The Cordish Company that has seen an emergence of restaurants, bars and stores in recent years.
