New Maryland Live! Poker Room Thriving Since Summer Launch
It’s only been one month since Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, Maryland opened their brand new 52-table poker room, but business is still booming.
Maryland Live!, the second casino to open a poker room in the state, boasts one of the biggest rooms on the east coast at 15,000 square feet and has been near capacity nearly every night since its debut.
According to state’s Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, Maryland Live! brought in an additional $20 million more last month than it did in August of 2012 and $17.7 million of that came from table games. The poker room alone brought in $350,000 in their first four days of operation.
In addition to the Hollywood Casino Perryville and Maryland Live!, Rocky Gap casino plans to open a three-table card room in early October. Caesars Entertainment is currently building a Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore and MGM Resorts International is bidding to build another casino in Prince George’s County.
Stephen Martino, the Director of the State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, has even said that Maryland will keep a close eye on New Jersey to see if online poker is in the state’s future.
