The Cordish Companies Maryland Live! Casino Named "Business Partner of the Year" By The West County Chamber of Commerce

The Cordish Companies’ Maryland Live! Casino has been named “Business Partner of the Year” by the West Coutny Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of the company’s positive impact on the local community through its minority business outreach, philanthropic contributions, strong commitment to public service, and dedication to giving back to the communities they serve.
“We are pleased to honor Maryland Live! Casino as our first Business Partner of the Year,” said Claire Louder, President, West County Chamber of Commerce. “The Maryland Live! team has proven to be a great supporter of small and minority-owned businesses, as well as the surrounding communities, as evidenced by their ongoing outreach, financial contributions and volunteerism.”
As one of the highest taxpayers in the State of Maryland, Maryland Live! contributes close to $1 million per day to benefit education and other projects, and to date has generated over $67 million in local impact grants to benefit civic organizations, non-profits, public safety, and schools through the County’s Maryland Live! Casino Development Council.
In addition, Maryland Live! continues to support and impact the local business community. With over $100 million spent annually for goods and services, Maryland Live! allocates 20% to MBE/WBE companies. The Casino also hosts semi-annual Minority Outreach Fairs in partnership with the Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA) for minority-owned firms interested in doing business with Maryland casinos and other prime companies. These efforts have resulted in more than 3,000 MBE and prime vendors connections, with approximately 30% of participating MBEs securing business from the events.
Maryland Live! also gives back to local organizations, donating more than $2.5 million in cash donations and in-kind support to date to non-profit and business organizations. They were named among the Top 4 Large Corporate Philanthropists by the Baltimore Business Journal.
Finally, Maryland Live!’s award-winning partnership with Anne Arundel Community College and Anne Arundel Workforce Development has led to the development of training programs, including Dealer School and culinary training, which have created opportunities for employment of thousands of residents.
