Two Exciting New Entertainment Venues to Open Their Doors at Power Plant Live!

Leading Up to a Grand Re-Launch of Power Plant Live!, PBR Baltimore and The Baltimore Comedy Factory Host Special Grand Opening Events

BALTIMORE, MD (February 28, 2011) – Power Plant Live! and The Cordish Companies are proud to announce today that two world class entertainment concepts, PBR Baltimore and The Baltimore Comedy Factory, will be hosting their grand openings the first two weekends in March.  These latest downtown destinations join the recently opened Tatu Asian Grill in what will be a series of high profile additions to Power Plant Live!, part of a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion of the project (going on its 12th year of operations).  The openings and enhancements will culminate in a grand re-launch of the entire restaurant, entertainment and office district, details of which will be forthcoming.

This will be the third location for PBR (“Professional Bull Riders, Inc.”) with its initial venture opening in the Power & Light District in Kansas City, MO in 2009 and the second related concept opening on The Strip in Las Vegas, NV shortly thereafter (a fourth location is now under construction in downtown Houston, TX).  The Baltimore location spans 10,000 square feet on the second level of Power Plant Live! and has something for everyone: a sleek “cool country” design by the renowned Knauer Design of Chicago, an outdoor deck overlooking the district’s main outdoor stage and two large-scale bars featuring over 150 feet of service space, as well as fireplaces, a raised lounge with soft seating and a large dance floor with state of the art sound and lights.  The grand opening of PBR Baltimore will take place on Friday, March 4.

Sean Gleason, CEO of PBR raved about opening the newest Baltimore location, stating, “PBR is one of the most exciting, fast growing and popular sports in the country selling out arenas from Madison Square Garden to Las Vegas as well as being televised nationally on Versus and NBC.  Our goal with the PBR club was to create a concept that captures both the electricity that is PBR as well as the warm camaraderie that exists between our patrons at our events.  PBR club does both and does so in spectacular fashion; we can’t wait to bring PBR to Baltimore!”

Providing laughs to locals and visitors to Baltimore for close to 30 years, The Baltimore Comedy Factory is relocating from its original location on Light Street to Power Plant Live!, with its opening scheduled for Friday, March 11.  The long-standing Baltimore institution is the place for comedy in the city, hosting the best of local, up-and-coming comedians as well as the industry’s brightest national stars.  Robin Williams, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle have all graced The Baltimore Comedy Factory’s stage, while Baltimore’s own Mo’Nique got her start at the renowned club.  The move to Power Plant Live! will significantly expand the venue’s seating capacity and provide guests with a lobby and bar area to gather before and after performances.  Additionally, the comedy club will now offer food.  Shows will continue to be scheduled every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with special event shows planned for other nights of the week.

“The Baltimore Comedy Factory is proud to be a part of Power Plant Live!’s evolution, while evolving and expanding our offerings as well,” enthused owner Matt Weber. “We look forward to becoming an integral part of Baltimore’s most exciting and dynamic entertainment destination and continuing to bring national headlining talent to our growing audience.”

Zed Smith, Vice President, The Cordish Company stated: “We are proud to reinvest in Downtown Baltimore. By adding these great entertainment uses to the existing district main-stays including Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Rams Head Live! and Mosaic we are ensuring that Power Plant Live! will remain one of Downtown Baltimore’s great draws for years to come.”
