Getting your first bike is pretty special, but its even more memorable when an LMPD officer helps you build it.
That's what happened during the "A Kid, A Cop, and A Cause" event held at Fourth Street Live! on Sunday.
Police officers, EMTs and firefighters helped local foster children build brand new bikes. In addition to the bikes, each child was also given a new helmet and backpack.
More than 100 kids went home with new bikes.
"Being able to give them a bike, something to bring home with them and continue to ride and spend time outside and having fun, it is such a wonderful feeling to be able to donate those bikes," said Ashley Satterfield, with Fourth Street Live!
