LOOK: Downtown apartments could have the closest view of Cardinals baseball this year
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you want a ballpark view, you better hurry.
That's the warning from the executive director of residential management at One Cardinal Way, Marnie Sauls, who says the soon-to-open apartments next to Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis is 65% full but units on the side facing the stadium are nearly all booked.
A tour of a completed unit on the 17th floor of the 29-story tower on Thursday was Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III's first time on the construction site in about a month. He says he's amazed by the progress every time he walks in.
And there's a chance that the views from the southwest side of the building will be the best view any Cardinals fan can find when the 2020 MLB season begins. The league announced this week that's planning to start spring training on July 3, then Opening Day would come in late July. But there's a good chance fans won't be allowed into Busch Stadium to watch.
If that's true and the Cardinals aren't allowed to sell tickets at Busch Stadium or in the seats at Ballpark Village, the amenities deck on the eighth floor or an apartment window facing the stadium will be the best view out there.
"We are working on a gameplan to have fans (inside Busch Stadium) if we're allowed to do so," DeWitt says. "Obviously it's contingent on a million different approvals. It may be the case that we can't so these apartments all of the sudden become even more interesting."
The building will officially open on August 1.
Hard hat tours are available to prospective tenants seven days a week, by appointment only. Head to OneCardinalWay.com for more info.
