The project is part of a $40 million reinvention of the downtown Norfolk complex, to be called the Waterside District. Plans call for razing the annex, which was added during expansion in the 1990s.
According to an official, the full demolition will take two weeks to complete and another two weeks to clean up an debris.
The demolition and rebuilding of the complex will return the structure to its original size and leave space for future growth.
Once it reopens, Waterside District will feature an anchor venue, a marketplace, Starr Hill craft brewery, live entertainment, a rooftop deck and more.
