Norfolk, VA – The Cordish Companies, Waterside District and The Fudgery are thrilled to announce plans to bring the beloved store back to Norfolk’s waterfront when the new dining and entertainment district opens next Spring. The Fudgery, widely known for its handmade, traditional fudge and singing fudge makers, made its first debut in Norfolk when it opened at the original Waterside building in 1983. The Fudgery will operate in a 1,000 square-foot space at the entrance to the District.
“We are extremely proud to bring The Fudgery back to Norfolk and to Waterside,” stated Reed S. Cordish, Vice President of The Cordish Companies. “The Fudgery may only be 1,000 square feet, but we know they had a large place in the memories and hearts of locals and visitors. They are a perfect complement to the day and night activity that will take place at the District.”
The Fudgery has been combining amazing fudge with a wonderful, fun experience for thousands of customers since first opening in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1980 and is still headed by its original founder and CEO, A.C. Marshall. Now in its 36th year of business, The Fudgery will open its 28th location when it debuts at Waterside District next Spring.
“We are very excited to bring The Fudgery back to Norfolk at Waterside District,” stated A.C. Marshall, Founder and CEO of The Fudgery. “Waterside and Norfolk have incredible importance to us as it was our first location after originally opening our doors on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Cordish Companies have assembled an elite core of professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to integrity in all of our business dealings. We are most happy to return to Norfolk under The Cordish Companies’ stewardship of Waterside District.”
The Fudgery joins recently announced Starrhill, Cogan’s Pizza and Carolina Cupcakery to open at the project. Further announcements of concepts joining the district will be made in the near future.
