KC Live! lands new tenant, sees existing business expand
Area residents should start warming up their vocal chords: The Kansas City Power & Light District is adding Hotel Karaoke to its tenant lineup.
The karaoke bar will occupy 8,500 square feet on the second floor of the Kansas City Live! Block and will feature a main gathering area called the Show Room that's anchored by a grand signature bar. Hotel Karaoke also will feature eight private karaoke rooms available for groups to reserve. To play off of the concept's name, each room will feature different themes that draw inspiration from renowned hotels throughout the world.
Knauer Inc., based near Chicago, is designing the space, which will undergo a $500,000 renovation and expansion. The architecture and design firm has worked on a variety of restaurant, hotel and retail projects, including The Dearborn Tavern in Chicago, Entourage in Schaumburg, Ill., and Luxbar in Chicago.
Hotel Karaoke is expected to be available for private parties and special events starting in December and will be fully operational during the first quarter. It takes the place of Hotel Nightclub.
No Other Pub expands
No Other Pub by Sporting Kansas City, which opened in 2016, also is expanding. The concept already features a social lounge, gaming parlor and a sports bar, but now it's adding a private event room that's expected to open in early spring.
No Other Pub touts itself as a "premier destination" for watching sporting events, and it's capitalizing on that theme for the new event space, which will seat 100. It will give guests an experience akin to a Children's Mercy Park suite. Some of the features will include a signature bar, media wall and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of 14th Street and KC Live!.
