Spark’s unique location in Ballpark Village provides an exciting opportunity for supporting the global shift in how people work and live
ST. LOUIS (June 14, 2021) – Spark St. Louis, a new collaborative workspace, celebrated its grand opening in Ballpark Village. Leaders from Spark Coworking were joined by Bill DeWitt III, President of the St. Louis Cardinals; Otis Williams, Executive Director of St. Louis Development Corporation; Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. and numerous business and community leaders to recognize this exciting occasion.
The coworking community officially opened doors to the public June 8 in The PwC Pennant Building in Ballpark Village’s vibrant neighborhood adjacent to Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis. The newly built coworking space will support the growing St. Louis entrepreneurial community while accommodating the changing needs of startups and companies. Spark St. Louis is operated in partnership between the St. Louis Cardinals and Spark Coworking. This unique partnership with Spark and the Cardinals is a first of its kind within the flex workspace industry, and ties in community and neighborhood goals set by the Cardinals and city led organizations.
“Spark is a tremendous addition to downtown St. Louis and to Ballpark Village,” said Bill DeWitt III, President of the St. Louis Cardinals. “The views, the amenities and the atmosphere are all second to none. As people return to the office, we are thrilled to have a space like Spark available just steps from Busch Stadium.”
“Creating a space where creativity and community can flourish is a win for our region,” said Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. “A space like Spark not only strengthens Downtown by bringing more people here every day, but it also promotes the entrepreneurship that is one of the core strengths of the metro and creates connections that will help build the future of our city.” The wide range of inaugural members represent Spark’s mission to support diverse and entrepreneurial focused ventures, with industries ranging from transportation logistics and video game development to cybersecurity consulting and food manufacturing. Inaugural members include: Sawyers & Jacobs, MedCraft Healthcare Real Estate, Next Move Group, Original Dante Studio, Quest Management, Warner Brothers Interactive and Richelieu Foods.
“Next Move Group has been committed to downtown St. Louis since 2015 and is proud to be among the first tenants of Spark’s downtown location,” said Alex Metzger, President of Next Move Group and an inaugural Spark member. “Spark is not only providing us a shared office space for our growing business, but also a community to support our entrepreneurial spirit. We welcome this addition to downtown St. Louis and are excited to call Spark our new corporate home!”
The 30,000-square-foot workspace will provide companies – from entrepreneurs and startups to established businesses seeking alternative collaboration space – an affordable and efficient way to conduct their businesses and engage their teams. The space will feature dedicated and nondedicated workstations, 80+ private offices and five suites. In addition to monthly and short-term memberships, Spark offers day passes and meeting room booking availability.
“It’s an exciting day for downtown St. Louis,” said Otis Williams, Executive Director of the St. Louis Development Corporation. “By attracting a diverse and eclectic mix of companies to the city, Spark will foster an environment where the great ideas of tomorrow can take shape. We are thrilled they chose to open in St. Louis, and we wish them great success.”
Spark St. Louis is the third collaborative flex workspace community for Spark Coworking which launched its flagship location, Spark Baltimore, in the heart of downtown Baltimore, Maryland, in 2016. Spark Baltimore now supports over 150 companies and 500 members in its thriving community. Spark’s second location, Spark KC, recently opened in the Fall of 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri, within Two Light Luxury Apartments in the Power & Light District. Spark St. Louis shares the same commitment to become an integral part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of St. Louis and the state of Missouri with a focus on economic development and providing first class amenities and startup resources to members.
“We’ve built more than just a place to sit down and plug in your laptop – we’ve built a community and we are excited to become a vital part of the St. Louis entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Shervonne Cherry, Director of Community & Partnerships for Spark Coworking. “Our mission is to provide local entrepreneurial communities in under-recognized cities an appealing, flexible way to locate and grow their ventures. By pairing hospitality with entrepreneurship, we are reflecting the future of work and supporting economic development goals for the city of St. Louis.”
