MELANnaire Marketplace returns to 4th Street Live for Juneteenth

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — What started as an experiment in May, is set to return on Saturday in time for Juneteenth.

MELANnaire Marketplace had their inaugural event on May 15 which featured 50 pop-up Black-owned businesses on 4th Street Live.

They had a huge turnout of residents and tourists in town for a convention.

Organizer Nachand Trabue says the Juneteenth event is another true test.

“It’s a very big part of filling that wealth gap as well as the other barriers we face as well but us being here having the Melannaire Marketplace down here in downtown Louisville on 4th Street Live that is a major move and it is very good because people need to be able to come and shop with Black-owned businesses,” she said.

There are many events celebrating Juneteenth in downtown Louisville on Saturday and you can support this one as well.

The marketplace will have vendors and live musical performances from noon until 7 p.m.

MELANnaire Marketplace takes place every third Saturday of the month.
