Construction tops out on $550 million Arlington hotel and convention center
Builders of Arlington’s growing entertainment district have topped out construction on a new 888-room hotel.
The $550 million Loews Arlington Hotel started construction in October between the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium, the Rangers’ former home.
Along with the hotel rooms, the project includes a new Arlington convention center.
The hotel has 200,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and 66,000 square feet of outdoor gathering spaces, including an event lawn. There will be five food and beverage venues in the hotel and a resort-style recreation area with two swimming pools, a beach, cabanas, fire pits and a water slide.
Dallas architect HKS designed the project.
“Loews Arlington is on schedule to open in early 2024 and our confidence and commitment to the city of Arlington continues,” Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels & Co., said in a statement. “Arlington, Texas is already one of the premier sports and entertainment destinations in the United States, and we anticipate once Loews Arlington opens, the city will also become a leading destination for meetings and events.”
Planned as one of the largest new hotels in Texas, the high-rise is a project of New York-based Loews Hotels, working with the city of Arlington, the Texas Rangers and The Cordish Cos., which is developing the surrounding $1 billion Texas Live complex.
The Texas Live project, the first phase of which opened in 2018, will have 200,000 square feet of restaurants, retail and entertainment venues, meeting and convention space, and an outdoor event pavilion.
The new Loews hotel will be connected to the 300-room Live! by Loews hotel that opened in 2019.
